When we’re looking at the best car upgrades of 2017, it accepts that factory options are never enough. We’re always tinkering and tweaking to make our rides the best they can possibly be. So what’s been on the menu this year? What’s the best? We’re looking back – with the help of some special guests – to find out.
Start With The Finishing Touch
Nick Roshon over at Nick’s Car Blog says it’s all about bras:
“Clear Bras are my must have for 2017 (or whenever you get a new car). The technology is night and day from when they first came out, and manufacturers like Xpel now have self- healing clear bras that basically never need polishing and very little maintenance. Stealth or matte clear bras are the latest trend/innovation in this space, where you can give your OEM paint job a matte finish without having to paint or plasti-dip, and you also get the benefits of extra protection.”
These protective car bras cover potentially damaged parts of the car to reduce nicks and scrapes so you can avoid buffing and touching up. They’re custom made for your car, so they can be a bit pricey - upwards of $1,000 to $2,500, but for some the extra peace of mind and finish is worth it.
Wow Factor
James Kirby at Daily Car Blog goes straight for a little more visual spectacle:

Panamera has a wow-factor transformer rear wing. While being aerodynamically efficient you lose that visual impact, that utter visual lunacy you get with a fixed rear wing. And it’s got to be a massive fixed rear wing, so for me, the best car upgrades have to be the two most essential, a massive rear wing and 21-inch alloys all round.”

It’s like Optimus Prime decided – hey – being a car ain’t so bad, but let’s be a slightly more aerodynamic car. Whether you’re into spoilers/wings or not, you gotta admit that’s pretty cool. It also opens the market up to more modular, transformable, Tony Stark stuff in the future. Best car upgrade of 2017? Maybe best car upgrade of 2032.
Hot Wheels
Nick doesn’t forget where the car meets the road:
“The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is another must-have for 2017, debuting very late 2016 to much
fan fare. As the reviews continue to pile in, this tire only seems better and better.
HRE FF04 and Fifteen52 Formula GT wheels – these are my two favorite wheel designs released in 2017, so check them out if you are looking for some new shoes.”

Flashing Lights
How about some more practicality, that’s a bright idea (hyuck hyuck):
“LED headlights – for a while LED daytime running lights were all of the rage, a trend started by Audi, but now the main headlight bulbs themselves are starting to become LEDs. While the factory options remain very expensive and only available on high-end cars, aftermarket manufacturers are making LED bulbs to replace your factory halogens that look better than xenon and getting close in terms of long range visibility, too.”
Just make sure you get the angle adjusted properly so you’re not blinding everyone else on the road. You know what we’re talking about.

What does your car need? 2017 has it.
